Islamabad Telegraph Report
While the majority of people across the World have criticized Elon Musk for charging a ‘blue tick’, significant numbers of people have vowed to support the stance of Twitter’s CEO.
Mehr Ghazanfar Klasra, a renowned Pakistani social activist claimed it was Musk’s right to charge for the services either he or his company provides.
” There’s no free lunch in the world. One has to pay to enjoy the services and Twitter is no exception,” Ghazanfar Klasra told The Islamabad Telegraph. Mehr Ghazanfar advised billions of users of Twitter either to pay for the ‘blue tick’ and enjoy exclusive services or continue tweeting without an out blue tick.
” Like it or not, Musk has full rights to put a bar on Twitter’s services. He owns Twitter and has full control over it. You can’t stop him from charging for the services he’s providing. Can you ask ‘Walmart’ to provide goods for free? absolutely not. Then how can someone object to Twitter’s decision to get paid for ‘exclussive’ services it is rendering,” Ghazanfar Klasra added.
A verified user, typically a public figure, celebrity, or influential individual, gets a ‘ blue tick’ mark as a token of verification. However, Twitter recently announced plans to revamp its verification process and remove the blue checkmark from accounts that no longer meet its updated criteria.

Elon Musk, who is known for his active presence on Twitter, has now claimed that users who want to retain their blue tick will have to provide payment details within the next few days, with the final deadline being April 20.
Musk has made it loud and clear that anyone who wants to get or retain a blue mark will have to pay. The announcement has shocked the majority of the users on Twitter while celebrities across the globe refused to pay for the blue tick.
The Twitter CEO has confirmed the final deadline for the company to remove ‘legacy’ blue ticks will be April 20 – just over a week away.
The blue checkmark on Twitter was initially introduced as a way to verify the authenticity of notable accounts and distinguish them from imposters. However, under the ownership of Elon Musk, Twitter has introduced a subscription service called Twitter Blue, which offers exclusive features such as custom app icons, undoing tweets, and tweet editing in certain countries, for a monthly fee. This has led to some features, such as voting in polls and SMS two-factor authentication, becoming exclusive to Twitter Blue, while they were previously available for free on the platform.
It’s been speculated that Musk’s goal with these changes is to increase profits by encouraging users to subscribe to Twitter Blue. Since Musk purchased Twitter in October for a significant amount, it’s possible that he is exploring different ways to monetize the platform and generate revenue. However, opinions on these changes and their impact may vary among users and the broader Twitter community. It’s always important to stay updated with the latest changes and features on any social media platform to understand how they may affect your experience as a user.
