- Act of Defiance: Despite intimidation and violence, Sheeraz Khan, a respected Pashtun, stood firm against the powerful aggressors, demanding justice for the destruction of his car and threats to his life.
- Police Intervention: The Margalla Police Station promptly registered an FIR and arrested the accused, marking the beginning of a legal battle against the influential family.
- Unexpected Plea for Forgiveness: Amidst the investigation, Sardar Ilyas Tanveer, former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, personally sought forgiveness from Sheeraz Khan’s family, highlighting the complex dynamics of power and honor in their community.
In the heart of Islamabad, where shadows danced with the flickering lights of authority, a tale that echoed the darkest corners of political influence, unfolded. The sons of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, a towering figure in Azad Kashmir’s political landscape, allegedly found themselves entangled in a web of power that threatened to unravel the fabric of society.

It began all with a simple act of intimidation, or so it seemed. Sheeraz Khan, a lone voice in the cacophony of political machinations, dared to defy the will of those who deemed themselves untouchable. As his car traversed the familiar streets of Islamabad, he unwittingly stumbled upon a scene that would change his life forever.

The roar of engines and the screech of tires pierced the night as a convoy of luxury vehicles blocked his path. Sheeraz, undeterred by the display of arrogance, honked his horn in defiance, demanding passage. But his calls fell on deaf ears as the men, according to Sheeraz, descended from their vehicles, armed to the teeth with weapons that spoke of authority and impunity.
As I neared the signal, I was abruptly surrounded by 15 to 20 vehicles, their headlights glaring like the eyes of a predatory pack. They closed in, forcing me to a halt. The tension in the air was palpable as I watched, helpless, while several men emerged from their vehicles, each brandishing the latest in weaponry. The first to step forward was Sardar Afif Sagheer, his eyes cold and menacing. Beside him were Sardar Omar Tanveer, Sardar Osman Tanveer, and Sardar Ahmed Tanveer, along with 15 to 20 others whose faces I could recognize
Among them stood the sons of power, Sardar Afif Sagheer, Sardar Omar Tanveer, and Sardar Osman Tanveer, their faces twisted in malice as they confronted Sheeraz. Threats dripped from their lips like venom as they laid claim to the streets they considered their domain. Their words carried the weight of their lineage, a lineage steeped in privilege and entitlement.

But Sheeraz, son of a respected and noble Pashtun family, refused to bow to their demands, his defiance fueled by an act of courage born of desperation. He watched helplessly as his car became the target of their rage, metal meeting metal in a symphony of destruction. Yet, amidst the chaos, he held firm to his resolve, his voice a whisper against the storm of tyranny.
“The evening was deceptively calm as I drove towards F-sector via the infamous zero point on Faisal Avenue. My car, bearing the registration number DD-98, hummed softly as I approached the underpass, not anticipating the chaos that lay ahead,” Sheeraz said.
“As I crossed the underpass, a shocking sight greeted me: around 20 to 25 motorists were skidding wildly on the road, creating a treacherous blockade. My frustration grew as I honked repeatedly, trying to carve a path through the chaos, but my efforts were in vain. With a mix of determination and desperation, I managed to navigate past the chaotic scene, breathing a sigh of relief as I headed toward the F-8 traffic signal. But my relief was short-lived,” Sheeraz told this correspondent.
“As I neared the signal, I was abruptly surrounded by 15 to 20 vehicles, their headlights glaring like the eyes of a predatory pack. They closed in, forcing me to a halt. The tension in the air was palpable as I watched, helpless, while several men emerged from their vehicles, each brandishing the latest in weaponry. The first to step forward was Sardar Afif Sagheer, his eyes cold and menacing. Beside him were Sardar Omar Tanveer, Sardar Osman Tanveer, and Sardar Ahmed Tanveer, along with 15 to 20 others whose faces I could recognize,” Sheeraz further said.
“They advanced on my car, their intentions clear. The assault began swiftly; they punched and kicked, their fists and the butts of their weapons leaving a trail of destruction on my car’s body. My heart pounded as Sardar Afif, Sardar Omar, and Osman Tanveer aimed their guns at me, their threats chilling. “You better disappear from this road,” they hissed, promising death if they ever saw me again. Their vehicles—Lexus, Land Cruisers, and Vego pickups—all bore a sinister signature: registration numbers SAI-777, WV-777, ATD-777, and black Vego trucks, each displaying the ominous 777,” he added.
“Terrified and trapped, I could do nothing but endure their threats and the violence. When they finally left, I was shaken but determined to seek justice. I went straight to the police, recounting the harrowing ordeal. ‘They threatened my life and destroyed my car,’ I told the officers. ‘Sardar Afif Sagheer, Sardar Omar Tanveer, Sardar Osman Tanveer, and Sardar Ahmed Tanveer, along with their gang, must be arrested,’” Sheeraz said.
The Margalla Police Station registered the FIR immediately and arrested the accused.
“The wheels of justice began to turn as my report was filed. But the memory of that night, the terror in their eyes, and the violence of their actions would haunt me forever,” Sheeraz said.
Just as the investigation gained momentum, sources revealed a surprising development. Sardar Ilyas Tanveer, the former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, had met with the family of Sheeraz Khan, pleading for forgiveness for his son’s actions. This unexpected plea from a figure of such high stature added a new dimension to the unfolding drama.
However, Shaikh Abdul Sitar, a proud Pathan and father of Sheeraz Khan, refused to settle the dispute. Showing firm belief in Islamabad Capital Territory Police, Shaikh Abdul Sitar said the law will take its course. He asked police high-ups to deal with the case on merit.
Despite trying several times, Sardar Ilyas Tanveer couldn’t be reached for his comments.
