Islamabad Police Arrests Fake ISI Brigadier in Islamabad’s Red Zone

Following complaint of the Managing Director of the Utility Stores Corporation of Pakistan, Islamabad Capital Territory Police arrested an impostor pretending to be  a Brigadier of ISI, from Islamabad’s Red Zone.

“The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police has taken an impostor into custody a man who pretended to be a Brigadier working for the country’s top intelligence agency, ISI.

The suspect was identified as Muhammad Nawaz, pretended to be an ISI Brigadier and pressurized the Managing Director (MD) of Utility Stores Corporation (USC), Muhammad Ali Aamir, to make suspicious transfers and postings of the staff.

The Police Station Secretariat arrested the culprit after MD Utility Stores registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the imposter Brigadier.

The complainant stated in the FIR that the suspect unlawfully used a residential house in an upscale area of the federal capital as a secret agency safe house.

According to the FIR, the perpetrator summoned the MD USC to the fictitious safe house in Sector F-6 of the federal capital for security clearance. The alleged spying agency, as per the perpetrator, conducts security clearance on every new head appointed in Islamabad.

After meeting the fake Brigadier, MD grew suspicious of his body language, which he considered did not reflect that of an Armed Forces officer. Following this, he wrote a complaint to the IG Islamabad, Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, and also filed an FIR at Police Station Secretariat.

Consequently, the Police Station Secretariat arrested the fake army official with his double cabin vehicle at Pakistan Television (PTV) Chowk in Islamabad’s Red Zone.

It is not first kind of incident in Islamabad. A few years ago the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had arrested a suspect exploiting woman through matrimonial ads in daily newspapers while impersonating an army brigadier.

Cyber Wing of ICT Police had arrested the impersonator following a Pakistani expat who’s sister was one of the victims exploited by the impersonator.

The impersonator used to publish adds in national failed seeking a potential bride for him.

Once a family or lady contacted him, Basharat would inquire about the potential bride’s height, weight, body type and then obtained their personal pictures. He would then edit the photographs into objectionable images and blackmail the victims, extorting huge amounts of money by threatening to post the images on the internet. The suspect also allegedly sexually assaulted several victims and videotaped them by forcing them to visit his residence.
