One died, seven hurt in Rawalpindi bomb blast

Rawalpindi: A pedestrian died while seven people got multiple injuries after a blast in a parked auto rickshaw at Rawalpindi’s Pir Wadhai bus station on Friday.

Rescue teams rushed to scene following the blast and shifted the injured to Holly Family Hospital Rawalpindi. Hospital sources confirmed that seven injured were under under treatment at Holly Family Hospital, Rawalpindi.

Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched search operation which continued until filing of this report. Bomb disposal squad has cleared the area however, authorities couldn’t determine the nature of blast yet.  

“Possibility of terrorism can not be rule out,” Spokesperson 0f Rawalpindi Police told Islamabad telegraph.

A wave of fear has been felt among the resident of locality which is home to the biggest Bust stand in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Garrison city of Rawalpindi had seen a series of bomb attacks from 2000 until 2009. However, law enforcement agencies had done great job by eliminating the terrorist network from across Pakistan. There have been witnessed only a few small blasts in Rawalpindi with irregular intervals.

Defense experts have advised the law enforcement agencies to take Today’s blast serious.

“Law enforcers need to take it very seriously,” Waseem Raja, one of Pakistan’s eminent crime reporters said.
