Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was given a rare and high-level honour on Thursday when fighter jets of Qatar escorted his aircraft mid-air as it entered Qatari airspace, highlighting the importance of his visit. The unusual aerial salute, reserved for distinguished leaders, was followed by a grand red carpet welcome in Doha, where he was received with full ceremonial honours and a guard of honour.
Grand Reception in Doha and Strategic Talks
Soon after arrival, the prime minister held a high-level meeting with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the Amiri Diwan. The talks focused on the evolving regional situation, particularly tensions in the Gulf region. Both leaders stressed the importance of de-escalation, dialogue, and close international coordination to ensure peace and stability.

The meeting lasted over an hour and was followed by a luncheon hosted in honour of the visiting delegation.
Visit to Saudi Arabia and Religious Engagement
Before arriving in Doha, Prime Minister Sharif completed an important visit to Saudi Arabia, where he was also received with a grand welcome. In Madinah, he was welcomed by Prince Salman bin Sultan and visited Al-Masjid an-Nabawi.

At the same time, Field Marshal Asim Munir is visiting Iran, where he has been received with a grand welcome by Iranian officials. His visit is seen as a continuation of diplomatic efforts that began during the recent Islamabad talks between the United States and Iran.
Iranian officials have acknowledged Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue and described the visit as important for maintaining engagement between the parties. The visit highlights Pakistan’s coordinated approach, involving both civil and military leadership, to promote regional stability.
Foreign Office Urges Responsible Reporting
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Foreign Office has called for responsible reporting on the ongoing talks between the United States and Iran. Speaking at a weekly briefing, spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that no date has been decided for the second round of talks.
“We will not comment on the positions of Tehran and the parties involved in the negotiations. This is part of the parties’ trust in us,” he said, urging the media to avoid speculation.
