- Rubio’s visit highlights U.S. loyalty to Israel even as Gaza collapses.
- Netanyahu’s settlement push and Qatar strike have enraged Arab states.
- UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar openly warn normalization is dying.
- Regional diplomacy is unraveling as Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe deepens.
When U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio touched down in Israel this week, he carried America’s usual baggage: unconditional support for Tel Aviv, token talk of peace, and deliberate blindness to the Palestinian tragedy.
As he stood at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, reaffirming U.S. recognition of the city as Israel’s “eternal capital,” Israeli jets were pounding Gaza City into rubble. More than 30 residential blocks had already been reduced to dust. Thousands were running for their lives.
The War, the Deal, and the Vote: Rubio, Netanyahu, and the U.N. Redefine the Middle East
Rubio’s visit, billed as a diplomatic mission to discuss hostages and reconstruction, has instead become a grim spectacle: Washington standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Netanyahu as Gaza burns and regional diplomacy unravels.
Netanyahu’s Deadly Gamble
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is no longer simply waging war on Hamas. He is waging war on the entire region’s stability. By openly threatening Qatar — a U.S. ally and mediator — and striking Hamas officials on Qatari soil, he has crossed a line that even America finds hard to defend. President Trump himself, usually Israel’s most reliable shield, called the strike “unhelpful” and promised Qatar’s Emir that “it will not happen again.” That rare rebuke speaks volumes.

Netanyahu’s arrogance, however, is undeterred. He insists Hamas leaders in Doha must be expelled or “Israel will do it.” He has signed off on settlement expansion deep into the West Bank, slicing through the land Palestinians hope to one day call a state. The UAE, once a champion of the Abraham Accords, has warned these moves undermine the very deal it signed in 2020. Saudi Arabia has hardened its position, refusing normalization without Palestinian statehood.
The Abraham Accords — the jewel of Trump’s first term diplomacy — are collapsing under Netanyahu’s defiance.
Gaza: A Human Catastrophe Ignored
While leaders trade statements, Gaza is collapsing. Nearly two years of war have left more than 64,000 dead, according to local health authorities. Starvation is rampant. Aid groups report at least 422 deaths by malnutrition, including 145 children. Even UN clinics have shut down after repeated strikes, leaving families with no medical lifeline.

Israel says it has conducted “five waves of strikes” on Gaza City, hitting over 500 sites in a single week. Officials do not distinguish between militants and civilians. To the Israeli war machine, every building is a target. To the Palestinians trapped inside, every moment is a countdown to death.
And yet, Israel still urges civilians to leave Gaza City — where exactly, nobody knows. The so-called “humanitarian zone” in the south is already overwhelmed. Families displaced multiple times are dismantling tents under bombardment, with nowhere left to go. One displaced father told reporters: “We do not know where to go. The bombardment is everywhere.”
Rubio’s Hollow Mission
Against this backdrop, Rubio’s mission looks absurd. He promises talks about “rebuilding Gaza” while Israeli bulldozers flatten its last hospitals and homes. He discusses freeing hostages — only 20 of the 48 are believed alive — while Netanyahu openly boasts that killing Hamas leaders is the key to ending the war.
The message to Palestinians is devastatingly clear: Washington will wring its hands, but it will not stop Israel. The message to Arab allies is equally damning: America’s “guarantees” mean little if Netanyahu can drag the region into chaos at will.
Regional Backlash Brewing
The Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, convened in direct response to the Israeli strike in Qatar, is poised to deliver the harshest collective condemnation of Israel since the war began. A leaked draft resolution speaks of “genocide, ethnic cleansing, starvation, and colonization.” Even U.S.-aligned Gulf monarchies are closing ranks, furious at Netanyahu’s recklessness.
The UAE’s Foreign Ministry issued a blistering statement, declaring: “The expansion of illegal settlements and the attack on Qatar threaten the foundations of peace. If this path continues, there will be no future for normalization.” Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan added bluntly: “Without a sovereign Palestinian state, there will be no recognition of Israel. Not today, not tomorrow.”
Qatar, furious yet defiant, accused Israel of sabotaging peace. Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said: “What Israel calls security is nothing more than state terrorism. These acts will not deter us from mediating — but they will isolate Israel from the region.”
In short, Netanyahu has managed what once seemed impossible — uniting Arab rivals in opposition to Israel.
Washington’s Dilemma
For Trump and Rubio, the danger is twofold. If Israel’s war continues unchecked, Washington risks losing credibility with Arab allies who host its troops and safeguard global energy routes. If the Abraham Accords collapse, America’s diplomatic achievement in the region will be remembered not as a milestone but as a mirage — destroyed by Israel’s intransigence and Washington’s silence.
For Netanyahu, the gamble may secure him short-term political survival. For America, it may spell long-term strategic disaster.
Prophecy: The Coming Reckoning
History is merciless in the Middle East. Netanyahu’s hubris and Washington’s silence are forging a storm that will not stay confined to Gaza. Within the year, the Abraham Accords will wither. Arab states, once hesitant, will distance themselves from Tel Aviv. Qatar will grow into the central power-broker, while Israel will stand increasingly isolated. And in Gaza, even if Hamas falls, the ashes of destroyed cities will give birth to new resistance. The prophecy is clear: Israel’s war will not end Hamas — it will ignite a conflict that outlives both Netanyahu and his American backers.
