Trump EU Russia Geopolitical Battle is talk of the town. When President Trump declared that he wanted to ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA), many thought that he merely meant fixing the US economy, rebuilding physical infrastructure such as roads and bridges, reducing illegal immigration and being tough on crime.
President Trump and his White House staff certainly intend to do this, but they also seek to make America the dominant nation in world affairs.
Trump is prepared to give Russia,
The CCP, Pakistan and India their sphere of influence in their region. However, he intends to define and impose the limits of that sphere. This will create tensions as the players will always want more than Trump wants them to have. But at least they all understand the broad deal and the on-going negotiation. Massive US naval movements around the world are part of that negotiation.
The people who are still in shock, confused and in deep denial are the EU elite leadership.

Following the devastation of Europe in World War Two, on 9th May 1950, The Schuman Declaration proposed that West German and French iron and coal production be placed under a common body. This would guarantee that a further war between them was not only unthinkable but physically impossible. Both France and West Germany needed control of their iron and steel supply to go to war.
Now the 9th of May means little among the majority of ordinary people in the EU. It never meant a thing in the UK when they were members from January 1973 until July 2020. But among the EU elite, they give great honour and worship to Europe Day.
This illustrates how the EU elite and the EU population have decoupled. The train engine has dumped the train carriages.
The EU elite see themselves as a priestly class and have an almost secret religious language between themselves. The people in the 28 EU states may not want to do what is best for them, but the EU elite will ensure that they still do even if it takes a very long time. The little hinges will have 100% control of the big door.
Is This Where Trump’s NATO Ideas Are Coming From?
The Schuman Declaration harped back to an idea around after World War 1. The civil service mandarin class in Europe believed in the early 1920s that the politicians and people had caused the war. They assumed that future land wars in Europe were inevitable unless they took their power away. They had to create a political and economic union through stealth that bypassed and overpowered democracy even if took away several freedoms. This attitude of the unelected bureaucrats was much stronger after the end of World War 2.
It started to manifest during The Maastricht Treaty in 1992. The British Civil Service quietly got the Conservative government to agree to ‘The Ministerial Code’. Prior to The Code, ministers decided on policy and civil servants administered it. Advisors advise but ministers decide. The Code reversed this. It meant government ministers were disempowered and civil servants given the whip hand in their departments. This was all done under the guise that EU law demanded it.

The Code was strengthened each year step by step. It led to The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab being forced to resign because he screwed up a piece of paper and threw it in the wastepaper bin. The Civil Servants were offended. Home Secretaries, supposedly in charge of the police and MI5, have had to cower and apologize to Civil Servants to keep their job.
Even when the UK nominally left the EU in 2020, the British Civil Servants strengthened the Code further. Ninety-five percent of mandarins in Whitehall want to rejoin the EU and hold in total contempt the 52% of the British public who voted for Brexit in 2016. They still regard themselves as part of the EU elite priestly class. This is why they have such raw hatred of President Trump and MAGA. They have equal hatred for Putin.
The EU elite vision and religious belief in the superstate manifest destiny is that they will become the dominant economic and military power in the world. They will eventually be the only super power.
The EU intend that their empire will expand all around the Mediterranean so that it is their private lake. Then deep into Africa, initially into the former French colonies, to take control of the minerals and agriculture. As their share of global GDP increases and the EU population soars, then they will have the finance and manpower to have a mighty military.
The EU intends to expand into Ukraine and then into Russia. In the latter they intend to break it up into smaller compliant parts as was the case in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s. They want to plunder Russian oil, gas, and rare mineral resources. At least the newly formed EU states in what was once Russia will get a celebration on the 9th May each year, whether they want it or not.
The EU want strong working relationships with Canada and with Latin America primarily to reduce American economic and military influence.
The EU elite eventually intend to face off with the CCP and assert dominance. Indeed, the European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas blurted this out in an interview in January 2026.
The EU elite have an imperial spirit and a lust for power, wealth and expansion.
The problem is that the score in this cricket game does not reflect the EU elite theory of their importance, prowess and progress.
In 2008 the EU had caught up the USA in total GDP. They believed that by the 2020s they would be double US GDP and have a strong military. Instead, the US GDP is over $30 trillion, and the total EU GDP is under $20 trillion. The economic reality does not match the EU elite theory.
The EU project is in decline. Russian success in Ukraine can finish it completely.
President Putin knows that the Rus language and people, the tribe that became the Russian state and the Russian Orthodox Christian faith began in Kiev over 1200 years ago. ‘Ruski’ the nickname for Russians comes from Rus Kiev. This is from Kiev (Russian) or Kyiv (Ukrainian) which is Putin’s favourite city. He regards it as Roman Catholics see Rome.
Putin has a vision of Russian destiny that conflicts with The EU elite vision.
Putin believes World War 1 and World War 2 were entirely caused by Berlin wanting to expand east to conquer Russia. He regards the EU and NATO move into Ukraine as Berlin playing its old game. He intends that Brussels and Berlin will get a bloody nose.
President Trump refuses to deal with the EU as one single state. He deals with individual countries. The population often welcome this as they still believe they can remain free independent nations and be in the EU. The EU elite know they cannot. They are frustrated that this old habit has not died off.
It is as if the people in Pakistan, China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Indonesia, Australia, Myanmar, Afghanistan were told they were all one country now with one law making body, one set of laws and soon a single military and single flag.
The EU elite want to remove all national differences and sooner or later to eradicate all religious differences.
President Trump has no intention of the EU upstaging US power and influence in Canada and Latin America. He will play hardball to crush it if necessary.
The US naval and air displays in The Middle East are a message to the EU. Stay in your lane or else.
The election of President Trump in November 2024 and rise of MAGA has spelt out to the EU elite that they are not a superpower and that they are losing the global influence they once had.
It is not clear that the EU elite can accept this message whether delivered by President Trump, J D Vance or Marco Rubio. They are doubling down on their delusion.
