Delhi: The court on Sunday ordered a man to be detained by the police until October 9 for allegedly sharing images of the defense area in Deolali here in the Pakistani WhatsApp group, an official said.
The accused, Sanjeev Kumar, 21, was arrested by some soldiers on Friday when he clicked on pictures of the Deolali Camp Military Hospital, where photography or video shooting is forbidden, the police officer said.
The soldiers confiscated his cell phone and found that he allegedly sent photographs to the WhatsApp community in the neighboring country, he said. Kumar was handed over to the Deolali Police Camp on Saturday night.
The accused, a resident of Bihar’s Gopalganj district, lived in a settlement near the Deolali Camp Railway Station and worked as a worker at a construction site in the military sector, the official said.
A case has been reported under sections 3 and 4 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, he said, adding that an investigation is being conducted in the village of Kumar.
